Searching to find meaning in your life shows you are growing spiritually. When we first become aware of this growing emptiness within, Our first impulse is to investigate religion for our answers. We naturally assume some religion somewhere is the right answer and that if properly searched out, it will complete us and give us the fulfillment that our soul needs. Good people are going to be in every setting and institution, including religion, and very bad boundary-violating reptilian people will be there as well. Church settings attract many bad reptile personalities on a power trip seeking to violate and control others whom they see as inferior. If a religious setting appeals to you do not let that obstacle stop you from finding such a setting based on character, not false theological doctrine.
There is no better place to do this than in a religious setting where bad people can place themselves between the sinner and God. This is a perfect platform to control others and violate their spiritual birthright to see things through their own eyes. You will have to navigate through those kinds of settings to find a sincere place for soul growth if a religious setting is your answer. Bad church managements set up many obstacles and conditions the believer must meet to receive God’s unconditional love. The part they first emphasize there is only one right religion and anyone not of their religion is in error. In other words, they must see things through the leader’s eyes, think like the leader, feel about everything the way the leader feels, and on down the line with all seven of your spiritual birthrights.
All religions are based on academia and intelligent understanding with no emphasis on character and virtue of personhood. This means to get close to God, you must have been able to get a high college degree in a prestigious theological institution of higher learning to get close to God and represent Him. High social and academic standing shows you were called and in fact are one of God’s chosen. Bad religion does not want outcasts, only cherry picked socialites.
Let us change direction in looking for meaning in your life. Instead of looking to get closer to God as they define it, let us look at getting closer to what is unique about ourselves, and becoming what God created us to be as an individual. Does that not make more sense? That is the objective of being a human being is to become what makes you different and needed by Humankind. What you are looking for is not uniquely a religious answer giving you meaning for your life, it is a spiritual answer. Spiritual and religion are different. In the human realm, not all parts that can fit together will fit together. If you have tried several congregations and none have seemed to fit your emotional needs for self-recognition, then widen your search to outside interests. Religion is not the only place to find spiritual completion of who you are as an individual, although for some it can be. Getting close to God through some religion is not the only answer to completing ourselves as a human being spiritually. Getting into our deepest self in all our beauty, gifts and talents to give back to Humankind is the spiritual answer.
The meaning in your life for you will be different than for someone else. There is no universal answer giving us all the same meaning. The beauty of this is all our answers for meaning are different, even though religion may try to convince you otherwise. The reason is because God made us all different and with different roles to play in Humankind. It takes all our differences to make Humankind complete. For some deeply spiritual people such as you may be, these differences take longer to surface and be developed.
The best place to start is by looking at all the things you like to do and in which you have an interest. These may be in activities, or they can be in settings. Activities can be in building something or studying something. Settings can be environments that fascinate you and into which you want to immerse yourself. Somewhere within is something in which you will find the deepest satisfaction in doing or being. The significance of something inside of you will be great because that is what you were created to do or experience, to bless Humankind by your doing or being that. That is the first part.
The second part is understanding your whole self as a person. I am not talking about just you the individual, I am talking about your whole self. That is, you the person, your life path and placement in location, time and relationships all planned out for you before the foundation of the world. Within your person is a world view and interests, within your life path is an opportunity to live out your world view and interests. Somewhere in all of this it fits together. If you have no faith and have given up hope, it will seem you are an individual person born into a sea of randomness floating aimlessly. If you again take up faith and have hope again, then you will see the alignment of circumstances in your life. You will find the meaning in your life by what you have an interest in, which will align with what you find in your settings to do or be. That is how faith works. That is how true spirituality works, within and without of religion.
